Former news anchor for ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, Ala., Roy Hobbs, spoke to CBS42 about his battle to overcome addiction and depression. Hobbs was arrested in 2010 for possession of crack cocaine and paraphernalia.
“April 2010 when I went out to…I have three stents in my arteries around my heart. I have been suffering from depression. I didn’t know this, but for over 25 years I was depressed, and I decided that this was, this couldn’t go any longer. I was going to go and get something and try to stop my heart. I didn’t get that. I got arrested that night…best thing ever happened to me, because had I not been arrested that night I probably wouldn’t be here,” said Hobbs.
It has been two years since his arrest and he says he hopes his story can be motivational to others battling similar issues. Stay strong Mr. Hobbs!
