From Coleman Coliseum to Madison Square Garden, Alabama freshman Jack Blankenship and his “face” is taking the country by storm.
Blankenship’s mug was discovered at an Alabama home basketball game against Florida just one week ago today and the whirlwind publicity tour has landed him on the The Today Show on NBC this morning. With his mom and cardboard cutout in tow, Jack interviewed with Ann Curry, Al Roker and Natalie Morales in the street outside the studio.
Last night, he was seen making the face in a Jeremy Lin jersey at “The Garden” during the New York Knicks loss to the New Jersey Nets. Despite Jeremy Lin coming up just short of a triple-double (21pts, 7 rebounds and 9 assists) and the return of the injured Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks fell at home to a dismal Nets team. Given the disappointment the Alabama team has experienced this season, could “the face” be the reason they lost? Doubt it.
Melo’s return might signal the beginning of the end to Linsanity and New York’s hot streak as they are sure to struggle while Anthony finds a new role on the now Lin-lead Knickerbockers.
Blankenship just announced on his twitter account that he will be on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show tonight.
